– Internet Data Packages

When you live or work off the beaten trail, you might also be out of range of wired broadband Internet. Rural and remote areas are difficult and expensive to lay cable or DSL to, leaving the dreaded dialup as the only wired connection. Some areas are so far out they can’t even get dialup! And today’s world requires high speed Internet just to be able to function online. Dialup just can’t attain broadband speeds.

Satellite Internet can, but is it affordable? With HughesNet, it is.

HughesNet Gen 5 satellite Internet service can allow you to stay connected at speeds that give you access to everything the Internet has to offer. With cutting edge technology, professional installation, and reasonably priced plans, HughesNet Internet packages deliver high quality at low prices. Plus, there are lots of special offers, so you can stay connected at reduced prices that are competitive and affordable.

What You Get with Your HughesNet Package
When you order a HughesNet Internet plan, you are provided with equipment that connects your computer to the satellite in orbit. This equipment includes:

  • A satellite dish with radio antenna
  • A mount to attach the dish
  • A HughesNet HT2000W Wi-Fi modem/router and power supply
  • A grounding block to absorb excess electricity generated by the signal
  • Up to 125 feet of RG6 cable
  • Weather sealing for outdoor installations

You can buy this equipment, or you can lease it for a small fee on your monthly bill, but leasing it provides you with complementary hardware updates whenever they occur, and is the best value.

HughesNet Gen 5 packages all provide download speeds of 25 Mbps, and are distinguished by the amount of data they offer. 1-3 Mbps is sufficient speed for simple activities, such as checking social media feeds or email. 25 Mbps download speeds enable HughesNet users to do more intensive online activities, like stream video and play online games. Upload speeds of around 3 Mbps are typical even for cable and DSL connections, and are mostly used to send requests when you search for something online. It is also plenty to make video calls to family, clients and business contacts, online classes, and telemedicine visits. HughesNet provides 3 Mbps upload speed standard with your data plan.

Since the HT2000W modem/router comes with built-in Wi-Fi, this Internet connection is not limited to computers that are plugged into the modem directly. Your whole household can enjoy the benefits of broadband speeds, even if you live nowhere near cable or telephone lines. Any device that can get Wi-Fi, such as your cell phone, tablet, laptop, or even gaming console, can connect to HughesNet service.

How It Works
The biggest advantage of satellite Internet is that you can install it anywhere. Cable and DSL rely on a web of hubs to relay data between customers and the Internet, providing many points of contact and potential for interrupted service. Satellite Internet only has 3 points of contact: your home, the satellite in space, and the Network Operations Center, or NOC.

The NOC’s job is to seek out the web address you, the user, request when you type it into your browser. Your request is beamed to the NOC through the satellite, and the NOC’s response is beamed back to you through the satellite. Satellite Internet is really that simple.

What makes HughesNet the most efficient satellite Internet is JUPITER System technology, which allows all this traffic to travel seamlessly through HughesNet satellites. This combination of input and output is called “throughput.” Slow throughput can create data packet loss, which can slow down your connection, a condition called “latency.” HughesNet developed JUPITER System technology to ensure customers can do the things they want to do online, without latency.
HughesNet Package Prices

You get the same 25 Mbps speeds across all HughesNet unlimited plans, which means you get broadband speeds that are faster than even some cable and DSL connections. You get all the equipment you need leased to you for a low monthly price. You get the Bonus Zone and access to Data Tokens, all on a 2-year contract that ensures your prices never change the entire time.

These days, the most common measurement for data is gigabytes (GB). All HughesNet packages are GB plans, which means you get the amount of GB in your plan to use during regular plan hours, not including your Bonus Zone data. This simplifies deciding which plan is right, because all you need is an idea of how much data you use each month.

If your household is very small, this $59.99 plan is perfect for browsing, checking emails, and watching a few movies in SD. This plan is perfect if your use of the Internet is just to keep up with the news and a bit of social media or handle affairs such as schooling or banking online.

20 GB of Data

With streaming services and video calling becoming more common and popular, 20 GB of data for $69.99 a month can cover a small household’s satellite Internet needs a little more broadly. In addition to browsing, email, more music and more movies, a small household of 2-3 people could also use devices all month.

30 GB of Data

For $99.99 per month, a family of four can comfortably enjoy all the Internet has to offer. Stream even more movies and music, play console or computer games online, and be able to join in that Zoom family reunion with the 30 GB package.

50 GB of Data

Are you a heavy user? Maybe you have a bigger family or run your business from your home. The 50 GB plan is the best value at $150.00. With this plan, you get enough data to have video conferences, run multiple devices, or entertain the whole family comfortably for the whole month.
Data Limits
Each HughesNet data plan allows you to use up to the maximum of your data at the full 25 Mbps speed. All plans also guarantee unlimited data with no hard data limits, but if you exceed your plan’s total GB, your speed may be slowed to 1-3 Mbps. This is still enough speed to do most things on the Internet, and HughesNet also provides a lot of ways to save your data.

The HughesNet Bonus Zone is between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. It is a free 50 GB per month that can be used during those hours without affecting your plan data. This is a great time for downloading big files or games, doing updates to your operating system, and other routine maintenance. Your connection during these hours is always 25 Mbps as long as you have Bonus Zone data.

Data Tokens
The Bonus Zone isn’t the only way you can augment your data. HughesNet offers Data Tokens, which are small chunks of data that can be activated if you run out of plan data. HughesNet prices this extra data more affordably than any other company:

GB icon10 GB for $30
GB icon5 GB for $15
GB icon25 GB for $75
What this means for you is that if you do exceed your data limit, you can still have broadband speeds at an affordable price. No matter how fast your satellite Internet is, if the speed is deprioritized by your data limit, you will still be slowed, and if you can’t afford auxiliary data, you’re stuck like that for the billing cycle. HughesNet pricing plans make it easy to keep your speeds, no matter how much data you use.
HughesNet Has the Right Plan at the Right Price
With a HughesNet contract, you can get the speeds you need at prices you can afford. There are no hidden fees or extras. Everything you need is provided as part of your contract, making it the best value rural Internet option. Frequently Asked Questions:
How does HughesNet satellite Internet service get to my home computer?
When you enter a web address into your browser, it sends out a signal. With HughesNet Gen5 satellite Internet, that signal goes into space, to HughesNet satellites. It is then sent to a center called a NOC, which seeks out the web address and sends it back to you through the satellite. This all happens in less than a second. Cable and DSL do this through wires and dialup does this through phone lines, but wires can’t reach everywhere and dialup is very slow.
